The Curtains

Last Sunday morning I was sitting watching my youngest play in our Sunshine room. This room gets its name from the sunshines I painted all over the walls, and the fact that sunlight pours through the windows in the morning hours. Sunlight has always intrigued me since I was a little girl. It seemed as if God’s very presence was in those light rays. I especially loved light beams streaming through clouds. Anyone else obsessed with sunshine?

As I was watching Oak play, the thought “Open the curtains of your soul” came to my mind.

The blinds in the Sunshine room were open, light was welcome to come dance across the surfaces throughout the room, and expel the darkness that was once present. The love of God is like this sunshine, and your soul is like the playroom. He is there, waiting patiently, yet longing deeply for you to open the curtains of your soul, and let His light inside.

Do you believe that? That God has a true desire for you, that only you can quench?

Sweet friend, I want you to know He does.

God took on flesh, and became a man. This Jesus, he is the Light of the world. He is the sunshine that pierces the darkness in your soul. His light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Let me tell you a little secret, your soul also longs for Him. The rest and refreshment only He can give. We tend to shut the curtains, and fill our playroom with ‘toys of this world’ which provide momentary happiness. Which is limited, and ultimately leaves us empty.

He is waiting for you to open the curtains. He desires to satisfy your deepest longings. He is your lover. He is your Maker. I pray you let him love you like he says he wants to.
